P.I.E. WENT TO MERCERSBURG ACADEMY!

On December 14th P.I.E. traveled, taught, and performed at Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA. We started with a 15 min. performance leading to a Q & A and then teaching the students. They were engaged, energetic, and bright about the subject of improvisation. It is extremely enriching to teach students whose experience is not just about dancing but confidence building and learning about how the body works. You can find a blurb about us on the Mercersburg website!

P.I.E. Goes to Kenyon Dec.4th!!

What's P.I.E.? .....A Performance Improvisation Ensemble

We are a group that creates improvised pieces in the moment and strives to build cohesive and artistically spontaneous compositions through solo and group forms. For my senior project, Rebecca Cash and myself are taking PIE on tour to expand our performance opportunities where we will document our entire journey and present to the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.

Our first stop is Kenyon College on December 4th. We will be conducting two sessions, a Contact Improv class from 12:10-1:30 and an Int. Modern class from 2:30-3:30. We will be performing, discussing, playing, and talking about the importance of improvisation! Check us out and keep a lookout for when P.I.E might be near you!

Cheers,

Katie Vickers

Here we go...

Welcome to the 2010 Senior Dance Festival Blog!

The graduating class of senior Dance majors are collaborating on a week-long, culminating event called the Senior Dance Festival. This event will serve as a forum for our research, and will showcase performances, lectures, demonstrations, and installations. Here we will post our progress throughout the year as we get closer to the Festival in April 2010. We hope that as we post videos, pictures, and comments about the entire process, you will get to know more about us as the individual dancers, choreographers, videographers, notators, and teachers that make up our diverse class.

Please feel free to comment and follow us on our journey!
